Advisory Board:
The Advisory Board is expected to provide expert, guidance and support to the official Board of Directors, filling knowledge gaps with specialized skills, networking and fundraising connections. Their role is to offer strategic vision, industry insight, and diverse perspectives to help SBC3 achieve its mission, acting as a sounding Board, resource amplifier, and community liaison, often focusing on specific areas like program development or fundraising.
The key roles of the Advisory Board are:
- Strategic Guidance: Offer critical thinking and feedback to the Board of directors on complex issues, helping to shape long-term vision and goals.
- Expertise & Skill Enhancement: Bring specialized knowledge (e.g., legal, tech, marketing, medical) that we may lack, filling crucial gaps.
- Networking & Fundraising: Leverage personal and professional networks to introduce the nonprofit to potential donors, partners, and community leaders, boosting resource development.
- Community Representation: Provide valuable insights from the community served, ensuring programs remain relevant and impactful.
- Resource Development: Act as ambassadors, lending credibility and helping to attract attention and support for the mission.
Aside from getting help raising funds, the single biggest reason for an Advisory Board is to bring
fresh eyes to how SBC3 operates. Routines can be hard to break if we don’t notice them.
The Advisory Board can suggest innovative solutions to keep us afloat in a sea of risks and opportunities.
