Nishit Kumar has a post graduate degree in Business Management, and has done programmes at IIM, Ahmedabad. He has 41 years of experience, 15 of which he spent in leadership positions in advertising, winning awards every year.
He worked for 10 years in the corporate sector, where his last assignment was as CEO of an IT-ES company.
For the past 17 years, he has been with the development sector. His 11-year-stint with CHILDLINE India Foundation is well known in the sector. At CHILDLINE, he developed a passion to work on the issue of Child Sexual Abuse and was instrumental for the first draft of what was to be passed in the Indian Parliament as the POCSO Act. He developed award winning films and communication for CHILDLINE, including the internationally acclaimed film on Child Sexual Abuse, ‘Komal’.
The programmes he created at CHILDLINE India won several national and international awards. He used Social and Behaviour Change Communication techniques to create a unique story-telling approach to help primary school children stay safe from sexual abuse. Nishit set up state-of-the-art IT-based communication centres for CHILDLINE, making the 1098 helpline number the world’s largest helpline for children.
Over the past 25 years, he has been involved as visiting faculty for MBA students at various institutions. He has been on the Academic Council of SVT College, SNDT University, for several years.
